With the 6G technology, it is estimated that almost 10 million devices will be able to be connected to the network within a small area of a kilometer. This will be 100 times more than what 4G technology allows us today which is around 100 thousand devices within a kilometer. While the 5G technologies can connect more than a million devices per kilometer. As device ownership and data consumption is increasing day by day, it will be very helpful in providing proper and faster network connection to everyone in the area. The speed also is not affected by the increasing number of users. However, 10 million is just a rough estimate, it can be much greater than that if the creators felt a need for more connections.
The 4G technology has a frequency of 2.5 GHz and the 5G technology has around 28 to 39 GHz. Surprisingly, it is expected that the next-generation technology, 6G, will come with a considerable frequency of almost 100 GHz. 100 GHz will be a great improvement in the frequency of the network, as this big change was never experienced before between 2 generations. A higher frequency will allow the users to transfer data at lightning speed. Moreover, a higher amount of data will also be transferred with higher frequency. Soon, it is hoped that we will be able to achieve a terahertz mark with a bit of further improvement.
The 4G technology we use today has an amazing speed of almost 200 megabytes per second. But it is estimated that the 6G technology will be able to reach the speed of 100 gigabytes per second which is unreal for today’s world. It will be 5 times faster than the highest possible speed of a 5G network (20 gigabytes per second).
So shortly, you will be able to send messages, process data, scroll through social media, and stream movies within flashes of time. Speed and data will no longer be a thing to worry about. You will have everything at your fingertips. However, the need for speed has been continuously increasing for the last 2 decades. As everything has shifted to the digital world so data consumption and the hunger for more content are increasing. If it keeps increasing like this then within a decade 6G technology will not be enough. Therefore, experts will be figuring out more advanced technology to meet the needs of the users. However, for now, the 6G technology is way beyond a normal person’s imagination and consumption.
“6G, instead, will be able to deliver additional services to users; such as sensing, control, imaging/mapping, and localization. These functions will be needed to support autonomous systems,” said Saad, a telecommunication technology specialist.
It seems like we have to wait for almost 8 to 10 years to get this technology. However, these amazing features and benefits make it pretty difficult to wait for a common network user like you and me. I am sure that the 6G technology will get further improvements according to the requirements of the network over time and the final product will be worth the wait.
